This week Pip received a phone call to see if we could take in a little girl with a broken leg.
Of course you all know Pip would say 'Yes'.
After a quick rush to the vets on friday evening, we found this sweet pup had a very badly broken leg. This little girl is going to cost the charity about a thousand pounds just to get her back on her paws.
Pip has asked if we can put Ariel on the appeals page to see if we can raise some money together to help pay for this. We will be putting lots of pictures and updates on the web site to keep you all up to date with Ariel's recovery.

arielhealingMy name is Ariel and I am a saluki whippet lurcher of about 8 months old. I've had quite a traumatic young life - so far I have been on the run, scared and alone. Then I got hit by a car which really hurt.
Then this nice lady picked me up and helped me and now that I am in my foster home I've got a duvet to snuggle and sleep in, food-a-plenty, even sausages, and I get ham hand-fed to me.
My leg still hurts and is very sore but my foster mommy gives me special treats if I eat my tablets to help ease the pain.
Ariel has been found to have a very badly broken front leg that will require surgery to help it mend.
Ariel has a very long and costly road to recovery and we will keep you updated on her progress.

Ariel had been a stray for weeks before she was found, and when she was finally rescued, it was apparent she was in a lot of pain and was very frightened by her experience.

Every little helps, thank you.

Update 14/03/2009
Ariel has now had her surgery and although it is too early to tell if the surgery has been successful Ariel is now in much less pain and has started on her road to recovery.
As you can see from the x-rays it was a very bad break and the vet had to put 8 pins in her leg in order to fix it.
Although her surgery has been done it still has to be paid for and Ariel will also need extensive after care so please give what you can to help us get this sweet little girl back on her feet.

Update 04/04/2009
It has now been four weeks since Ariels surgery and she is doing really well. In fact we are struggling to keep her still so she can finish healing nicely! She has really come out of herself now she is no longer in pain and has become a friendly, fun little puppy who can't wait to come off her lead.
Despite her pulling her own stitches out she is healing well and we hope that in just two more weeks she will be able to run and play with the other dogs. Fingers crossed you will see her in the dogs for adoption in just a few weeks time.
Update 11/04/2009
Ariel is going from stregth to strength and pushing Pip's patience to the limit! she can't understand why she has to be in her crate now she is feeling so much better. She has cost her foster mum £10 a week in treats and rawhide chews just to keep her busy. We have raided the charity shops for teddies just to keep her company and likes to sing along to Annie Lennox. Her fave toy at the moment is her bright yellow orangutan.
She is a little shy with new people and takes a little time to come around, but considering the trauma she has already been through in her first 6-7 months it is not surprising she is a little wary.
All of you keep you finger crossed as she goeas back to the vets to be re-xrayed in a weeks time to make she is healing well.
We would like to say ahuge thanks to all who have donated, we have raised £300 so far, so still have a liittle way to go. Ariel sends her love and big slurps to everyone who has been so thoughtful and generous.

Update 16/05/09
Good news (we do get some!) Areil is now free running in the garden and using her leg more and more every day. The horrific spay really took it out of her, but she bounced back like the little trooper that she is.
She has healed well and is on the dogs for adoption page now.
