Phoca Guestbook
Welcome to our Guestbook - affectionately known as
The Lamp Post.

Feel free to leave some messages for us, and each other, here. In other words, take a moment to tell us a little bit about yourselves & your dogs.

Small print ;-)

The book is moderated to protect you (and us) against spam, adverts and malicious comments, so your entry may take a few hours to appear on the site - we are sure that you'll understand. Also, if your message is construed to be offensive or unrelated to EGLR and rescue dogs
(in other words "off topic"), it is unlikely to be published.

In other words, no 'babies' and no 'recipes' (unless it's for dog biscuits, or shortbread) ...
p.s. Pip got stuck using the Lamp Post, so we've got some help for you here.

Guest: Flybe Mouse

Hi all, not visited the site for a while. This new site is fantastic, keep up the good work. Has Flybe Mouse found a home? I would offer her a home at the drop of a hat if I didn't already have one EXACTLY the same Innocent. I go to all of the agility events organised by Dickson Dog Training to support your work and I hope to be in  a position to do more in the future.

Luv from Natalie - sharing the sofa with Pippa my beautiful Saluki lurcher x x

Alison: Little Polly

Hi,

I'd just like to say to anyone considering homing a dog not to overlook Polly the little deaf pup. We have a deaf greyhound and she is a joy. Although nearly  3 now she is still a big puppy and enjoys life so much. She needs her doggy friends to tell her something interesting is happening and it is sometimes a chore to go and let her know something is happening if she is asleep. She has learned down and sit  and could learn more if we put some more effort in. She is a bit naughty but that is her personality not her deafness! She has a blog :

Andrew Bagguley: Beautiful Site

Hi all, this site ROCKS! User friendly, informative, comprehensive bla bla. Lynette and I love it. If there is any way we can be of assistance, please don't hesitate to ask. Linda is "The Lady" for getting Waitrose to ante up for EGLR. We will be shopping there to support this. Big up to Pip, Linda and the crew. Special love to Archie

Webdog: @ Steve

Hi Steve,

Glad to see that you're popping in as a regular. It sounds as though you might like to give our EGLR RSS feeds a try. You can read more about letting your browser do all the 'leg work' in checking for new and updated items here.

We do keep the new site up-to-date, and in fact since it is so easy to do, we have 3 EGLR volunteers who do this now - we don't rely on just one person anymore.

It has been a little quiet, but here's a trick - the 'We need a home' section actually lists the dogs, newest (and updates) first. Also, you can sort the list of dogs to show the newest first - but we chose to keep the list alphabetical (for the moment) - just like the old site.

Is it just me or is the site not updated as regularly as the previous one?  I check every day and haven't seen any changes for weeks.  Could you have a 'Last Updated' date/time to stop people like me having to search through the whole site to see if there are any changes?

Linda Hutton, Worcester: Coming Donation!

This is just a quick line to let everyone know that as of this week and for the coming month, EGLR is one of 3 charities being supported in Waitrose, Malvern. The system in Waitrose is called Community Matters, and what happens is that every shopper gets given a token as they go through checkout. They then chose one of three nominated charities for the month and put their token into the perspex box by the door. At the end of the month, Waitrose weighs all these tokens and divides a donation of £1,000 between the three proportionally. It's proved very successful because the customer doesn't have to pay a penny of their own cash! It's a system Waitrose is committed to keep going, and they've found that customers who don't have a perference for any of the three usually put their token in the one with the least. It also means that for a whole month ELGR gets a high profile in a major store, since you can't walk out of the store without passing an A4 card with details on it in nice bold green letters!

So if you know anyone who shops in the Malvern Waitrose, give them a ring and tell them where to put their tokens!!!!

Debbie Pete Millie Mango and Willow: Leaning on the lamp post!

Hi! We love the new site and thought we'd give this technology malarky a go ourselves! To update on Mango, he's looking superb  and is enjoying our new lurcher pup, Willow. They have turned our garden into a race track though they do avoid the chickens! We are so glad to have found EGLR and Mango - who would come to see what we are writing about him but he can't move himself out of bed!!

Beccy Stephens Quedgeley: Clare Bryn & TRixie

Hey Clare, I see the similarities. But then I also see a lot of Kizzy in the head shot she did have a sister with a darker head than her own. But then you have met my daft hound so i'll let you make your own mind up. I think she has finally stopped growing & can now fit two tennis balls in her mouth. If your passing the doors open hopefully we will be moved soon but then you know how long i have been saying that Beccy Kizzy & the mad boy

Guest: new site

this new site is great. the old one was way to crowded and was really difficult to read. this one looks much more professional. It is easy to use and navigate. I don't have an EGLR dog but this site has made me want to keep up with what is going on and what has happened to the rescued dogs. I'll definitely be bookmarking it! When will it be up and running rather than just in preview?

Guest: Chris Kaye from Deddington (on behalf of Freddie & Jura)

Freddie & Jura (both EGLR rescues) wanted me to tell you how much they like the new website. It really looks good. However, they have noticed that over the last 5 years since they were adopted, all their photos have been removed from the site...

I  have gently explained to them that in spite of their beauty, room had to be made for all the dogs that still needed a home.

Chris.

Keep up the good work.

Jennifer from Windsor: Site looks great from my Mac - thankyou...

Hi,

I occasionally used to try to follow the site, but it didn't work too well on my computer, a Macintosh.

It looks great now, and I love the bigger pictures.

Jennifer.

Clare: Bryn and Trixie

Hi, it's Clare (Bryns foster Mum)

Anyone out there noticed how similar these two dogs are? I was wondering if they could be related? Bryn doesn't photograph too well, he's camera shy! But they really look quite alike, and sound like they have similar personalities, both needing loads of exercise. Bryn was found in Wales as a stray so no real background, where did Trixie come from?

EGLR Underdog: @Rob

Hello Rob,  I'm sorry you are having problems, the new site is still on a temporary server and will be relocated to a newer shinier server ASAP, which will help with any speed issues. To see the dogs for rehoming - just click on the "Dogs to Adopt" on the main menu or the top bar (the scrolling area is there to give people a taste as they browse other parts of the site, not to provide the primary adoption link). As far as the verification code is concerned, if you cannot make out the code, you can always use the blue "Change the code" arrows till you get something you can read.  If you continue to have problems please drop an email to the webmaster and we will try to help.

3 Black Dogs from the South: New Site

Hi all, from a family of 3 rescue dogs, (2 of which are from EGLR) living in the south.

We just wanted to say what a fantastic improvement the newsite is....

You should all be congratulated on both its visual impact and how easy it is to use and find your way around. (think the 'techie' term is navigate !) and I love the little touches of humour ! It's clear and easy to read, sometimes the blurry text on the old site was hard to read ! So many great pictures and space for the all the important words and information. I've already subscribed to the newsletter and the RSS feeds. I vote yes for Happy Endings and wish EGLR all the best.
