The Lamp Post
Phoca Guestbook
Welcome to our Guestbook - affectionately known as
The Lamp Post.

Feel free to leave some messages for us, and each other, here. In other words, take a moment to tell us a little bit about yourselves & your dogs.

Small print ;-)

The book is moderated to protect you (and us) against spam, adverts and malicious comments, so your entry may take a few hours to appear on the site - we are sure that you'll understand. Also, if your message is construed to be offensive or unrelated to EGLR and rescue dogs
(in other words "off topic"), it is unlikely to be published.

In other words, no 'babies' and no 'recipes' (unless it's for dog biscuits, or shortbread) ...
p.s. Pip got stuck using the Lamp Post, so we've got some help for you here.

Webdog: @ Pip

Now Pip,You KNOW that you are not allowed a computer without supervision Tongue out

So I suppose I shall just have to go ahead and cook up a few help pages.

i also am not sure about it as the site is very very slow on my computer. can you not speed it up. the scrolling dog area is too small so it takes forever to see my favorit dogz. the image verficaton code never works 1st time.

Pip: New website

I love the colour of website and think the scrolling of dogs for adoption is fantastic. Change is always difficult but this I feel is a positive change and will hopefully bring us all good for the future.

Well Done and a massive Thankyou to our new webmasters who have put such a huge amount of time and dedicated effort to bring us the best website ever.

loads of love

Pip and all the dogs that this site will help (and after all that's what we are all about!)

Yvonne Brennan West Sussex: Brilliant site

Very impressed with the new site. It certainly matches the work that EGLR does. Looking forward to the newsletter as with the main activities taking place in the Midlands, it is good to hear the news from all the other adoptees around the the UK. Big Lick from Pola

Sophie: Newsletter

Hi all, I have had absolutely no replies to my plea for entries to the new supporter newsletter. I was hoping to get this out next month but at the moment it will make a better doodle pad than a newsletter! Throw me a bone here chaps!

[EGLR]: @Bluestones

Hi Bluestones,

The best thing that you can do is to give either Pip or Linda a call, find their contact details here and hopefully they will answer all your questions,

Good luck...

EGLR Underdog: Small piccies....

Jane:

the technical people are looking into this, though currently you can click on the small picture in the "Dogs to Adopt" and a larger picture will be opened in a new window.  We're still trying to get new larger photos for some areas as the old site only had small ones.

Cool

Jane from Gloucester: Big pictures - yippee

I love clicking on the pictures with the little magnifying glass, can you put these onto the adoption dog pictures too?

[EGLR]: @ Lucy

Hi Lucy,

Sorry to read that you are struggling with the new site Frown.

We made the change for a bunch of different reasons, but we definitely know that change can be a bit hard.

The most important bit of the site is, of course, the  'Dogs for Adoption' section (which we have tried not to change too much) - and that is the first big banner link at the top of the page.

We wanted to bring you much nicer, and bigger pictures of the dogs, and this is beginning to happen. Another thing that we found, was, that some people could not access the site very well - the font size was too small, and worse, trying to change it in the browser didn't work (often the words were part of a picture and hard to read Cry).

The new site can make use of templates (so christmassy themes, and spring themes) can be applied easily (Wait till you see the dogs running in the spring grass).

We also hope that the new features coming on-line (like Frequently Barked Questions, Happy Endings and a brand new shiney Shopping Mall Cool) will make the site a favourite too.

Stick with it - we know that it will grow on you (it did for all of us).

Webdog.

EGLR volunteer: Flybe Mouse

Hello Lulu

Flybe Mouse & Lizzy are both going to become sponsor dogs, there will be new entries for them on the Sponsor page very soon.

Send your picture over to the webmaster email and we'll see what we can do.

There are dates just below every post - but I think the font colour needs changing as they are hard to read.

Unfortunately we really need the authentication code, with the old guestbook 95% of entries were spam and the kind of advertising you really don't want to see!  If you can't read the code - press the refresh button (the arrows to the right)  a few times until you get one that is easier to make out.

Thankyou :-)

Lulu Salisbury 15th Jan: Where is Flybe Mouse?

Hi there, i really like the new website. it will take a bit of getting used to but I think it's a winner!! I have looked for Flybe Mouse and thought maybe she was going to be a sponsor dog, but I can't flnd her anywhere- I hope she is okay? I am going to send a photo of my lurcher doing agility, is it okay that she is a dogs trust dog or does she have to be an ELGR dog? any chance of dates on entries. (I have had trouble entering the code. if that happens each time I might be put off).

STEVE: NEW SITE

Prefer the old site as this one is too cluttered and has lost the EGLR branding. Such a shame.

[EGLR]: @ Angela

Hi Angela,

Thanks, I don't know which cartoon I like best, but I'm leaning towards the one on the Appeals page.

A big thanks to Mr G for his cracking ideas and help on (1) the stats, and (2) the 'We need a home' scroller.
