Meet Pluto

PlutoLast week we were contacted by a vets asking us if we could help with a young pup that had a broken elbow joint that needed surgery so we took him in and left him in the trusting hands of our hard working vets, he was booked to have surgery on Friday, the plan was to wire and plate the joint. We were told that this was a difficult operation due to the area that was broken.

Meet Grace

Grace3We don't very often have to opportunity to show you the conditions the dogs we look after have come from, however this is where the beautiful Grace was found. She has come to us from Ireland and the Irish rescue told us her story.

“Grace is probably one of the saddest cases we have come across. We got a call from an elderly man after Christmas about a dog that had strayed into his shed. He did not know what to do but could see there was something seriously wrong with her and asked us for help. The picture of Grace tells the story more adequately than a thousand words, she crawled in there to die, she had a massive non malignant growth which had burst and was slowly killing her”

Luckily for her she was rescued and after many hours of surgery and care she is well on the road to recovery and as you can see her coat is now gleaming in the sunshine.Grace

For more information on Grace have a look at her full details on the dogs to adopt page.

How is Cloud?
Little Cloud has really been through the mill this week and she is only 11 weeks old bless her. Cloud's surgery has initially gone fantastically well as you can see from the X Rays and we are keeping everything crossed that in about six weeks time we can confirm it to be successful. Unfortunately we have hit another barrier, as after taking specialist veterinary advice we have had to take her off her original pain relief, steroids and antibiotics. The reason for this is, as she is so young these life saving strong drugs have given her a stomach ulcer and her digestive system is very poorly indeed. We are now treating her using homoeopathy and we are managing to keep her comfortable, we will support her through this setback as we are absolutely determined for her to win through.Cloud6
Thank you all so much for your ongoing messages of support for Cloud and for your donations (I know that many of you had already sent in money for poor little Star) and we take our hats off to your generosity as without you we would not be able to battle on, this one will be a long one but with your help we will keep going.
