Meet Groot – our gorgeous, goofy, loveable boy! Groot is a very special boy with a huge personality and an even bigger heart. Groot seems to think he’s a merman because he absolutely LOVES water! He’s in and out of paddling pools and even plastic baths, whatever the weather. Or perhaps he was a duck in a past life! He is a real baby at heart — a happy, affectionate soul who loves people, attention, kisses and cuddles. He’s a very friendly, outgoing boy and is always happy to meet and greet new people. Groot loves playing catch with his teddy bears and toys, and he absolutely loves the sofa. He also loves being close to his humans and will happily lie at your feet while you’re trying to cook. He likes to follow you around too — if you go outside, chances are Groot will be right behind you! That said, he doesn’t suffer from separation anxiety and, if asked to stay inside, he is quite happy to do so. Groot is a tall, long-legged, lanky boy and can be a little clumsy and an absolute idiot at times — but in the nicest, funniest and most lovable way possible! He is house trained, although he still needs regular reminders and pee-pee training, along with lots of praise and encouragement. Groot is good on the lead. He went out with an old friend at the weekend and she said he was excellent on the lead, which is fantastic progress. He sleeps through the night and is very good in his indoor kennel, although when we are here he is loose and enjoys being part of everything that’s going on. Groot is also VERY food orientated! He is always on the lookout for something he can sneak from the kitchen when nobody is watching. He once managed to eat an entire Victoria sponge cake and thoroughly enjoyed every single bite! So his new family will definitely need to keep food well out of reach. And those eyes… When Groot starts fluttering his eyebrows, he has us all wrapped around his paws and ready to give him whatever he wants! Behind all the fun, silliness and love, Groot has sadly experienced awful cruelty in his short life. When he arrived at rescue, he was emaciated. Despite everything he has been through, he remains such a happy, loving and trusting boy, and he deserves a wonderful home where he can finally be spoiled and enjoy the life he should always have had.

Groot’s ideal home:  Groot would ideally have: Another dog in the home, preferably a medium or large female. He really does like the girls! A home with children aged 14+. No small dogs, cats or other small furries. Someone who enjoys having a dog involved in family life, as Groot loves company and attention. A family who will continue building his confidence, training and manners with patience, praise and plenty of love. Someone who understands that this gorgeous boy can be a goofy, clumsy, food-loving menace one minute and the sweetest cuddlebug the next! Groot really is a very special boy. He has been through far more than any dog should have to endure, yet he still has so much love to give. All Groot needs now is someone who will see past his silly antics, give him the guidance he needs, fill his life with adventures, cuddles and sofa time — and let him finally be the happy boy he was always meant to be.
